The Vulkanradweg - highlight for cyclists and inline skaters
It is 94 km long - and meanders largely on the route of the former Oberwaldbahn through a wonderful open forest and meadow landscape. Nature, villages and towns are shown from a perspective that is only remembered by rail travelers until the mid-1970s. The volcanic cycle path runs on fine asphalt from Altenstadt-Höchst in the south to Schlitz in the north of the Vulkanregion Vogelsberg. On the largest volcanic massif in Central Europe, cyclists, inline skiers, longboarders and handbikers can enjoy wonderful views of fields, forests and meadows, as well as insights into rural idylls and rural cultural assets.
